The song This Time of Year has been performed by Sing2gether.

The group consists of about 60 singers drawn from two choirs which rehearse in Pelsall and Streetly.

They then come together to perform concerts and to make recordings.

Musician Stuart Crossen and choir vocal coach Mike Brereton composed the song This Time of Year.

Mr Brereton said: "We decided that a song with a theme of hope, strength and family would be ideal for Christmas.

"The message of the song is that we're here to support each other – that was really important to us.

"Many people join community choirs having experienced loss of loved ones as it gives them the opportunity to make new friends.

"A lot of our members had lost people and we wanted to get that across in the song."

The song is available to download from Amazon Music, Google Play or iTunes.

St Giles Hospice provides care for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses.

The charity is based in Lichfield and it has fundraising shops in Cannock and Walsall and it will receive the proceeds from the single.

Mr Brereton added: "Raising money for local charities is part of our community theme.

"This year we realised the choir had even more connections with St Giles Hospice than we'd known, through people who'd been cared for at the hospice.

"That informed our decision that St Giles was the right cause to benefit from the single.

"The message of the song is also completely appropriate for them as a charity."

Sing2gether are to host a Christmas concert featuring plenty of festive songs to join in with.

It is on Friday at 7.30pm at Pelsall Community Centre and it will feature the single This Time of Year sung by the choir.

Tickets for the concert are £6 per person.

They can be obtained via the Sing2gether website at www.sing2gether.co.uk and picked up on the door.

Donations can also be made to the hospice on the evening.
